Tafl: viking chess

: A historical strategy game originating from Scandinavia, which thrived during the Medieval period. Much like chess, it held a significant place in Scandinavian culture. Variants of the game are distinguished by several factors: – board dimensions: options available are 7, 9, 11, or 13 squares – winning criteria: successfully position the king at the board’s edge or corner. – king encirclement criteria: can occur from two or four sides. – count of offensive (black) and defensive (white) units. Players can engage in matches against AI, challenge another person on a single device, or compete with others in online multiplayer settings. The attacking black units initiate the game. Subsequently, players alternate turns. All pieces are able to move vertically or horizontally across any number of squares.
